House Votes to Repeal CLASS Act
On Wednesday, the House voted to repeal the CLASS Act, a part of the 2010 health care law designed to provide Americans with affordable long-term care insurance. The Community Living Assistance Services and Support program, better known as CLASS, was intended to help with problems surrounding long-term care coverage. The White House has stated it does not support the appeal.
This vote follows the Obama administration’s decision to suspend CLASS a few months ago. The Senate has previously ignored votes by the House to repeal the health care law in its entirety or to block funding to parts of the law/ Uncertainty still surrounds how the House vote will affect the actions of the Democratic-controlled Senate concerning the Act.
