Bloomberg Billionaires Index
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the richest person on earth is Carlos Slim. Slim is the telecommunications tycoon who controls Mexico’s America Movil SAB. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index measures the World’s wealthiest people daily based on market and economic changes and Bloomberg News reporting.
Bill Gates and Warren Buffett placed second and third on the list respectively. Eike Batista of Brazil has vowed to be the wealthiest man in the world by 2015. He trails Slim by almost $39 billion in the number ten spot. Bill Gates is worth $62.4 billion, and Buffett is worth over $43.8 billion. The wealth of the twenty richest people combined adds up to $678.8 billion.
Other billionaires include Larry Ellison, Chief Executive officer of Redwood City, California Oracle Corp., Liliane Bettencourt, who owns 31% of L’Oreal SA along with her family, and Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook. The wealthiest European is Sweden’s Ingvar Kamprad. Kaprad ranks fourth globally. There are no Russians in the index, but there are others from Hong Kong, Asia, and Spain.
