Court Approves Sale of O’Keeffe Collection
On Monday, the Tennessee Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s decision to allow Fisk University to sell a 50% stake in a 101 piece art collection Georgia O’Keeffe donated to the school. The Tennessee attorney general contested the $30 million sale to the Crystal Bridges Museum Bentonville, Ark, claiming that the sale would inhibit future donations by overriding O’Keeffee’s stipulations that the collection never be broken up or sold. Officials at Frisk were satisfied that the sale might finally conclude after more than a decade after it was first proposed.
