Wills for Low Income Individuals

Unknown-4AARP directs readers to some nonprofit organizations that can help you to draft a will for little to no cost. Some of the resources are below:

  • Wills on Wheels: This is a group of volunteer paralegals and attorneys in Denver who will deliver documents to your home and witness the signing of documents for free. There are other unaffiliated wills on wheels programs in other states.
  • AARP’s Legal Counsel for the Elderly: In Washington, this program works with volunteer lawyers and provides free wills and other legal services for low income residents.
  • Serving Our Seniors: This program is available in 25 states and offers free wills to seniors.
  • Pro bono Wills Programs: Many other pro bono programs exist around the country. Some have age and income limits to qualify for the free services. You can find these sources by searching “pro bono will” accompanied by your state’s name.
