Lottery Winner Is Indicted With Welfare Fraud
As I have previously discussed, Amanda Clayton continued to receive welfare support even after she won a $1 million lottery prize. Now, the Michigan Attorney General has charged Clayton with welfare fraud and failure to inform. If she is found guilty, she could receive four years in prison. Clayton reported that she thought that the Department of Human Services would stop payments and that collecting her food stamps was appropriate because she is still unemployed. She also agreed that she still needed assistance, claiming that she had bilsl to pay for two houses.
