Lucian Freud Sets Another Record With His Will
Lucian Freud died in 2011 at the age of 88 and left 96 million pounds behind in his will – the largest amount even bequeathed by a British artist. He left 2.5 million pounds and house to his assistant. The rest of the money was divided between his lawyer and one of his daughters.
Lucian Freud is the grandson of the psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, and was known for beautifully depicting the human body. Freud is not new to the record books. He already set the record for the largest sum ever received by a living artist when his painting, “Benefits Supervisor Sleeping” sold for $33 million at a 2008 auction.
