Happy Birthday to Prince William

ThCAP22KRYToday, June 21, is Prince William’s thirtieth birthday. He is now entitled to inherit his $15.5 million share of his mother’s estate.  When Princess Diana died in a car crash at the age of 36, she left most of her estate to be split between her two sons. William also has the option to vary the terms of Diana’s will to give a larger share of the money to Prince Harry.

Many have speculated that Prince William will use the money to buy a country home and raise a family. This may not be the case since he might sign up for another tour with the RAF’s Search and Rescue force, which would likely delay any settling down.

One royal aide comments that Prince William and his bride, Duchess Kate, live at a modest level considering their royal status. Even after Prince William inherits this money, we shouldn’t expect to see any change in that lifestyle. For example, when the Prince was asked about how the he plans to spend his thirtieth birthday, he remarks that it will be something low-key and private.
