Wills To Provide For Your Pets

601066_10150972198864059_1848566452_n-1If people do not provide for their pets in their will, many pets become orphaned and are surrendered to shelters. When shelters need more space, these pets are euthanized just like other shelter pets if they have not yet been adopted. 2nd Chance 4 Pets is a charitable organization that tries to help pet owners plan for the possibility that their pets might outlive them.

A pet owner should select a caregiver for his or her pet, considering who will be willing and able to provide consistent and loving care to their pet. Once the owner selects a caregiver, then he or she should leave detailed instructions on how to best care for his or her pet. He or she should also provide for adequate funds to care for the pet should the owner pass away. It is a good idea to name a backup caregiver as well.
