Lawmaker in the Middle of an Estate Dispute

Estate DisputeA court ordered Mississippi State Representative Brian Aldridge to provide more than $200,000 in restitution to the estate of his late aunt, Florence Aldridge. Reports show that his father took the money from the aunt’s estate and funneled a portion of the money to Representative Aldridge’s charity, Touched By An Angel Ministries, Inc. His father, Louis Aldridge, was the CFO of the charity at the time, and Representative Aldridge is the current CEO. Aldridge’s attorney contended that the court essentially holding that an officer of a charity has a duty to investigate the source of funds that are coming into the organization, and that the officers could be held personally liable for illicit funds. Representative Aldridge has now filed a motion for a new trial in this case.
