Michael Jackson’s Family Members Express Problems With the Will and Executors
Janet Jackson and four of her siblings sent a letter to the executors of Michael Jackson’s estate that accused them of fraud and claimed they abuse Jackson’s mother. Janet, Jermaine, Tito, Randy, and Rebbie Jackson signed the letter. Since Jackson’s death, the relations between the Jackson family and the executors has been strained. The estate spokesman, Jim Bates, said that he is saddened by the false accusations made by the family members Michael left out of his will, especially since progress has been made in turning around the estate’s finances.
The family members who signed the letter allege that Jackson’s will is fraudulent because the will shows that Michael signed it in Los Angeles on July 7, 2002, which they claim is not possible because he was in New York at that time. Furthermore, they claim that Michael told them he did not like the two people he named as executors, so why would he name two people he disliked to be in charge of his estate. Last, the letter accuses the executors of abusing their mother through lies and manipulation and threatens to “take appropriate action to seek justice.”
In response to the allegations regarding the executors in the letter, Bates notes that two years ago, the courts already resolved any questions with regard to the executors. The rumors about abuse of the mother have been disputed by Paris Jackson, Jackson’s 14-year-old daughter, who clarified that the abuse of her grandmother is a rumor. Katherine Jackson’s lawyer also states that the mother is lucid and cares for Michael’s children. Bates adds that the executors have diligently taken care of their fiduciary duties to benefit the family members named in the will.
