The (Boring) Truth About MJ’s Will
As I have previously discussed, there has been a growing amount of controversy surrounding the late King of Pop’s Will. Earlier I discussed how one or more members of Jackson’s family have publicly announced that they believe Michael’s will is invalid for one reason or another. The truth about Michael Jackson’s Will is that there really is no controversy. The fact remains that Michael Jackson’s will is legally sound, and that “[t]he will is in no real danger of being overturned.” Thus, the fact of the matter is that Jackson intended to leave many members of his family out of the will and there is nothing that those members of the family can do to take under the will.
For example, even if the brand new will is invalidated by the courts, the will that might take its place is substantially similar to the new will. Most of the changes that Michael Jackson made to his will over the years are not substantial. In fact, most of the changes that Michael Jackson made to his will only clarified what the previously will already said, and who should be the executor of his estate. According to Forbes, “[i]f all four wills were invalidated, the children would inherit the estate at age 18, with Katherine Jackson and the charities left out.”
