Hong Kong Tycoon Offers $63M to Man Who Marries His Daughter Away From Her Same-Sex Partner

Images-1Cecil Chao Sze-tsung, a Hong Kong real estate tycoon, is offering $63 million to any man who can convince the tycoon’s 33-year old lesbian daughter, Gigi, to marry him. It does not seem likely that Gigi will go for this deal because she has been dating her girlfriend for seven years, and earlier this year, Gigi eloped to France to  marry her same-sex partner

Chao’s persistence in this quest may be explained in part by Hong Kong’s stance on homosexuality. Hong Kong does not recognize same-sex marriages, and just recently decriminalized homosexuality in 1991.  Some surveys do indicate that Hong Kong is more accepting of homosexuals than other areas in Asia, but many in the country still remain resistant to the idea.
