Employee In County Probate Office Accused Of Stealing Attorney Fee’s

Court FightSherre Johnson Wells was recently arrested on charges that she stole between $10,000 and $50,000 from the Calhoun County Probate Office in Florida. Wells was an assistant at the probate office when the thefts occurred. She reportedly redirected funds that were intended to cover attorney’s fees into her own personal accounts. She conducted her scheme over a period of time. The discrepancy was only discovered after Probate Judge Alice Martin reported to local authorities that money had been stolen from the office. Judge Martin called the police “after she requested an audit for missing funds from the state examiner’s office.” As for Wells, she was released after she posted a $30,000 bond. Her hearing has been scheduled for May 2, 2013.
