Bigamist Sentenced in the UK
Ayse Akgun, asserted she was legallymarried to Mousa Hamoud Ali Al- Saif. Ali Al-Saif died and Akgun stood toinherit £2.6 million estate. However, before the distribution of the estate thetrust administrators investigated her background. The investigation revealed that she had beenmarried previously and that the divorce proceeding was never completed. Itseems as though Ali Al-Saif never knew about the other marriage. Akgun wascharged with bigamy and one count of false accounting. The court sentenced her to three monthsfor bigamy and 15 months for false accounting. Additionally, She was alsoordered to do 180 hours community service. Based on the evidence it wassuspected she married for financial gain.
