Falling Tombstone Kills Young Boy, Lawsuit Filed

On July 5, 2012, four-year-old Carson Dean Cheney died after a tombstone at GlenwoodCemetery fell on him.  While his fatherwas taking photos for another family, Carson was hiding behind the tombstonetrying to make the other children smile. The 200-pound tombstone of Michael Horran, who died in 1889, fell over onto him after a light touch was applied to it.

The Glenwood Cemetery Association in Park City, Utah is nowbeing sued for over $300,000 for negligently attempting to fix the tombstonewith construction adhesive and knowingly leaving a tombstone in place thatposed a danger to visitors. 

TheAssociation President has stated it is the responsibility offamilies to maintain headstones at the private cemetery.
