New York Governor Announces Estate Tax Refunds for Gay Spouses
The Windsor case has brought thegay community closer to having the same rights as heterosexuals. Following the Windsordecision, the governor of New York stated he would refund estate taxes paid bysurviving spouses of same- sex marriages dating back to 2008. Usually, thelimit for folks filing a tax credit is three years. New York governor AndrewCuomo was quoted saying the refund is “one more step toward justice.”
