Lost and Misplaced Documents a Growing Concern
More than 60% of adults in the U.S. will die without a basic estate plan. Those with an estate plan may still have their documents lost or misplaced.
There are a shocking number of wills and trust documents that are never claimed each year. Surviving families may find estate planning documents are either impossible to find or were misplaced at law offices and financial institutions due to mergers, office relocation, and retirement.
Additionally, $4.9 billion in unclaimed assets are turned over to the government each year with only $1.7 billion reclaimed. Over $1 billion in life insurance is unclaimed each year.
