Stay Ordered for Same-Sex Marriage Ruling in Wisconsin

RingsAs I have previously discussed, a federal district judge in Wisconsin struck down the state’s same-sex marriage ban and did not immediately stay her judgment. Now, at the request of Wisconsin’s Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, the ruling has been stayed and same-sex marriages in the state are on hold. Van Hollen is appealing the ruling that the ban is unconstitutional. During the week between the ruling and the order for a stay, over 500 same-sex couples were married in Wisconsin.
