Mellon Art Collection Brings More Than Imagined at Auction
As I have previously discussed, a portion of the art collection of Listerine heiress and widow of Mellon heir, Rachel ‘Bunny’ Mellon, was auctioned off earlier this week. The collection that included pieces from famous artists from around the world such as Pablo Picasso and Richard Diebenkorn, was expected to bring in up to $121 million. The auction exceeded expectations by bringing in over $158.7 million for The Gerard B. Lambert Foundation.
