Battle Over Victim’s Estate Amidst Ongoing Investigation

Sarah Long

After Sarah Long was found dead of a gunshot wound at her townhouse in July, a battle has been brewing as to who will inherit her nearly $1 million estate.

Both Long’s boyfriend and estranged husband have claimed they should inherit her estate, which includes investments, her townhouse, and other assets that people close to the family said are worth around $980,000.  While the two have reached an agreement to share the estate, other family members strenuously object.

Although it is not clear whether the estate is completely settled, investigators are still trying to unravel who killed Long.  The case has gained national attention when Long’s body was found at her townhouse on July 23, bug evidence gathered revealed she actually died four days earlier.  Police initially believed her death to be a suicide, but, a month later, the case appeared suspicious due to the inconsistencies at the scene.  Since then, search warrants have deemed it a murder investigation.
