GWAR Sued for Stealing Frontman Dave Brockie’s Remains

Dave BrockieThe former thrash metal band GWAR has found itself at the center of legal dispute over the band’s founder, Dave Brockie, estate.

Dave Brockie’s father, William Brockie, alleges in a lawsuit filed in the state circuit court of Richmond, Virginia, that members of GWAR stole his son’s ashes as well as many of his possessions.  According to the lawsuit, the band gave only a fraction of Dave’s ashes to his father “in a used plastic bag.”  The band also sealed many of Dave’s belongings and failed to pay his share of the proceeds from GWAR’s last tour.  The suit seeks the transfer of Dave Brockie’s ashes and property to the estate, as well as $1 million in damages.
