Skipping a Generation of Inheritance Allows the Youth to Climb the Property Ladder
The housing minister is recommending that parents leave their property and wealth to their grandchildren to help the younger generation get on the property ladder, further combating the housing crisis and inter-generational unfairness. Rising property values are creating an increased distance for young people looking to purchase their first home. Oftentimes, your grandchildren will be better off in terms of life expectancy and new technology, but this does not solve inheritance goals in the realm of property and wealth. Accordingly, these suggestions are forcing grandparents to “disinherit” their children and leave more for the next generation in times of early survival.
