Americans Report Struggling with Retirement Planning, Estate Planning, and Investing

Estate planning and retireAn annual survey shows that Americans, especially those nearing retirement, struggle with retirement planning, estate planning, and investing. Of all the financial tasks listed, estate planning was the only category up from last year’s numbers—up from 24% in 2015 to 26% in 2016. Only 8% of pre-retirees and retirees reported that they sought help for estate planning within the last year to year and a half. Another increasing trend shown from the study was that pre-retirees tend to favor getting free financial advice rather than paying for it. This finding certainly brings concern for the future of American’s retirement and estate planning.
