Veterans Cemetery Buries 7 People in the Wrong Graves

Veterans cemeterySeven veterans were buried in the wrong graves at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery because the grave markers in one of the rows was off by one burial plot. Workers at the cemetery left two spaces instead of one when transferring the remains of a veteran back in November 2010. The extra space was not counted when the permanent grave markers were added the following spring. Consequently, twenty-one grave markers were off. More than 34,000 veterans are buried at the cemetery and approximately 1,200 interments occur annually.
