After being together for almost sixty years, 88-year-old Joyce Hope Suskind and her husband, Olaf Ringdahl, carried out their suicide pact, vowing to never be apart. Together, they were extremely artistic individuals—Suskind went to Juilliard and co-founded a program that teaches musicians correct posture, while her husband was a well-known photographer. They both wrote letters before they died, and Suskind expressed that she could not go on without her soulmate after being diagnosed with heart and circulation issues.
