Making Charitable Donations Part of Your Wedding Registry
As technology progresses, replacing wedding gifts with charitable donations is becoming easier for couples. Due to the vast amount of money spent on weddings each year in the United States, the charitable needle could be shifted in a major way. According to some 2015 statistics, 2.2 million couples got married, and guest spent on average $127 per wedding gift if they were family and $99 if they were friends. Adding a nonprofit organization to a registry is simple, and there are several websites that help facilitate this process for couples. However, there is some risk putting a charity on a wedding registry, specifically the potential of alienating certain guests who oppose the organization’s mission.
