A L’Oreal Heiress Is Now the World’s Richest Woman
Liliane Bettencourt’s recent death has shifted the public spotlight to her daughter, Francoise Bettencourt Meyers. Meyers now enjoys the title of “Richest Woman in the World” after her mother’s passing and transfer of her 33% stake in L’Oreal. Unlike her mother, the 64-year-old Meyers has never embraced the glittering and decadent social life that Bettencourt once enjoyed. Meyers appears quieter and more reclusive and is known playing the piano for hours and for a love of writing. She has written two books: a genealogy of the Greek gods and a multi-volume study of the Bible. Her previous level of seclusion may be difficult to maintain as the new head of a fortune that is among the largest in Europe.
