Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Money in Limbo, Kids Wait for Their Payday
Hugh Hefner’s ownership interest in Playboy, among his most prized possessions, may remain in limbo for up to a year. Hefner sold Playboy Enterprises in 2011 while keeping a 35% stake in the company. The deal allowed Playboy Enterprises to buy back Hefner’s outstanding shares within a year of his death. But, if Hefner’s estate and the company are unable to reach an agreement, the shares will be offered for sale to the highest bidder. It is estimated that the sale will fetch around $45 million.
