Despite radical advances in medicine and astronomical leaps in the average life expectancy, a proposed increase in the state pension age has not been well received. The possible increase from 66 to 68, which is not to actually occur until 2037 at the earliest, is allegedly a new gateway to social inequality amongst the elderly.
