U.S. Premature Death Impact Climbs for Third Straight Year
UnitedHealth Group Inc. foundation analysts have examined a number government surveys to reach the conclusion that U.S. health is not moving in the right direction. For 2017, the number of premature deaths, as measured by the group, increased to 7,214 per 100,000. This represents a 160 person increase per 100,000 from 2016. Analysts speculate that the rise may be due to increased drug use, workplace accidents, and an increase in cardiovascular disease.
