The Downmarketing Of Tax Shelters
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) has ushering in a refreshed incentive for taxpayers to find loopholes in the new tax code. With such a massive overhaul to the tax system, it should be fairly unsurprising that planners and individual taxpayers alike are seeking to maximize their tax savings. For some, this behavior is deserving of criticism. Gene Steuerle, working at the Tax Policy Center, decries the bill not as a tax reform, but as a “tax deform.”
