‘Blind Side’ Player Says He Was Conned With Adoption Promise

OherMichael Oher, former NFL player, who rose to stardom after his life was dramatized in the 2009 movie “The Blind Side,” asked a Tennessee court to formally end his legal relationship with the Tuohys, the family who took him in when he was 16.

Oher claims he was never adopted, although he believed the Tuohys adopted him for many years and that, instead, the family tricked him into signing a conservatorship agreement at age 18. With the conservatorship, he relinquished his rights to the family. The Tuohys have responded publicly, claiming the conservatorship was “like an adoption” since they could not adopt Oher after he turned 18.
